Alicia Smith for LCSD1 School Board
My Priorities
As a mom of five kids and an invested and active community member, I have a big stake in what happens at Laramie County School District 1. We are so blessed in Cheyenne to have a school system that prioritizes our kids and preparing them for life beyond graduation. LCSD1 has made great strides in the last four years under our Board's leadership. We are seeing a new and refreshing sense of stability and optimism within the walls of our schools and our administration building. However, there is much work to be done, and I hope to continue being a part of that work. I look forward to four more years of service on the LCSD1 Board of Trustees and the opportunity to help guide our district to be the very best it can be for our kids.

Maximizing Student Success and Readiness
As a candidate for the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I believe it is crucial to the future of our community that we prioritize student success throughout their K-12 journey and their readiness for life outside the classroom. Our students are the future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of society, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. This means investing in quality education, supporting our teachers, and providing students with opportunities to learn and grow both inside and outside of the classroom. We must prioritize student success and readiness, we can ensure that our community thrives for generations to come.

Defending Parental Rights in the Education of Their Children
As a parent of five children, I understand the importance of defending parental rights in the education of their children. Parents are the primary educators of their children, and it is our responsibility as a community to support them in this role. This means respecting their choices, always being transparent, and providing them with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions about their child's education. As a member of the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I am committed to continue defending parental rights and ensuring that parents have a voice in their child's education.

Supporting Educators
Our educators are the backbone of our education system, and it is essential that we support them in their important work. As a candidate for the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I am committed to supporting our teachers by providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed. This means investing in professional development, providing competitive salaries and benefits, and creating a positive work environment that fosters respect, collaboration and innovation. By supporting our educators, we can ensure that our students receive the best possible education.

Fostering Trust, Transparency, and Accountability
Trust, transparency, and accountability are essential for a healthy and thriving education system. As a member of the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I am committed to fostering these values by engaging with students, families, educators, and our community in an open and honest dialogue. This means listening to feedback, being transparent about decision-making processes, and being accountable for our actions. By fostering trust, transparency, and accountability, we can build a stronger and more connected community.

Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility
As a candidate for the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I am committed to ensuring fiscal responsibility in our education system. This means making smart investments in education that prioritize student success and readiness while also being mindful of our budget. By being fiscally responsible, we can ensure that our education system is sustainable and that we are able to provide the best possible education for our students.

Maintaining Safe and Healthy Schools for All Students and Educators
The safety and health of our students and educators are of the utmost importance. As a member of the LCSD1 Board of Trustees, I am committed to maintaining safe, healthy schools for all students and educators. This means firmly and consistently addressing disruptive and dangerous behaviors in our schools, investing in safety measures such as security systems and emergency preparedness plans, and promoting healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and physical activity. By maintaining safe, healthy schools, we can create an environment that is conducive to learning and growth.
